Unsurprisingly given how accurate rumors and leaks are today, it seems that most of them have been proven to be true. Starting with the design, this is indeed a marked departure for HTC who has over the years been sticking to a very familiar design with their HTC One M-series of flagship smartphones.
With the HTC 10, the company has opted to create a more elegant and sleek-looking device which seems to have drawn some inspiration from the iPhone 6/6s, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The phone will sport a 5.2-inch QHD display and under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4GB of RAM can be found.
On the back of the phone, HTC has packed a 12MP UltraPixel camera that has optical image stabilization and a relatively wide aperture of f/1.8. The camera is also capable of capturing 4K video and stereo 24-bit Hi-Res audio recording, meaning that videos captured on your phone’s camera should have slightly better audio quality compared to what other handsets are offering these days.
There is also a 3,000mAh battery and HTC has packed a rapid charger that can charge the phone up to 50% in 30 minutes. For those worried about the heat that it might produce, the charger can apparently draw the heat out from the phone to make things a bit safer. If this sounds like a phone you’ve been waiting for HTC to make all these years, the HTC 10 will be available for pre-order starting today with prices beginning at $699 for the 32GB model and will begin shipping in early May.
