There are apps that are free, and sometimes you might be wondering, why would any developer give an app away for free when they can easily charge money for it, especially if it is a very popular and useful app? When it comes to free apps, ads are one way that developers can make money from it.
However sometimes ads in apps can be annoying and disruptive and can ruin the experience, which is why Google has started to make notes in the Google Play Store on apps that come with ads. As you can see in the screenshot above, the note is placed next to the warning that the app also comes with in-app purchases.
If you’re the type that prefers your apps ad-free, then this warning will be of use to you, or at the very least we guess if you were to download and use the app, then any ads that you see in the app won’t come as a surprise. Like we said, some ads can be annoying as they can takeover the entire app for a few seconds while the ad plays out, versus banner ads which aren’t as distracting.
The labeling was a requirement for apps that are part of Google’s Designed for Families program, but it looks like it has started to roll out to all apps that might contain ads.
