Google has recently pushed out an update for its Hangouts app on iOS, and one of the key features of the update is the inclusion of a share extension. According to the update’s changelog, “Share extension – share text, links, pictures and video from other iOS apps”. The update will also automatically turn off video when your iOS device is in low power mode.
For those unfamiliar with the share extension on iOS, basically this feature lets you share photos, links, videos, and more without actually having to launch the app itself. For example WhatsApp has a share extension so instead of going through the process of opening WhatsApp, selecting the contact, and selecting the photo and adding a caption, you can just share it straight from the Photos app.
This will save users a couple of steps, making it more efficient. In any case the updated app is available for download so head on over to the iTunes App Store if you’d like to get your hands on it.
