Google Fiber is gradually being expanded to more cities across the country and the latest market to be confirmed is Nashville, Tennessee. This is the ninth market for Google’s gigabit internet service. Google had previously announced Nashville as a candidate city for Fiber back in January last year. As is the case with most Google Fiber rollouts, it’s going to be done at a very limited scale initially.
The company has confirmed that Google Fiber will be initially available to residents of four apartment and condominium buildings in Nashville, Tennessee. Google does say that it hopes to expand the gigabit service to “the lion’s share” of the city eventually.
Google is also launching a Fiber Space in the city where locals can go and try out the company’s gigabit internet service as well as its cable TV service. Pricing is similar to the other Google Fiber markets.
Customers have to pay $50 per month for the 100 Mbps connection, they can upgrade to 1 Gbps for $70 per month which also comes with 1TB of Google Drive storage. The top-of-the-line package costs $130 and bundles gigabit internet with cable TV.
Those who are in the Nashville area can use Google’s apartment finder tool to ascertain if they’re in a building where the company is offering this service initially.
