Fans of the Gears of War franchise have long been waiting to get official word on the release date for the upcoming title and today their wish has come true. Microsoft today confirmed the Gears of War 4 release date. It’s out later this year in the fall. Gears of War 4 is the first title in the series that’s not developed by Epic Games, which created the series, it’s being done by a new studio called The Coalition.
Gears of War 4 was first revealed back at the E3 2015 gaming convention, Microsoft says that today’s announcement of the release date is going to “ignite a chain of upcoming revelations” about the title.
It marks the start of a new saga for this very popular franchise, new heroes will rise to confront a new threat, the game harkens back to the dark and intense roots of the original classic and fans can expect a familiar but distinct evolution of gameplay. Microsoft promises that there will be no shortage of brutal and intimate action, “a heart-pounding campaign,” as well as a great multiplayer component.
Starting April 18th, those who have played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10 will be able to join the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta on Xbox One, the beta will expand to all Xbox Live Gold members by April 25th.
Gears of War 4 is going to be released worldwide on October 11th, 2016.
