The Samsung Gear S2 is definitely not the latest smartwatch around, but it is only smartwatch from Samsung that will be supported on iOS, at least so far. Support for the smartwatch was announced earlier this year where it was suggested that the support could be arriving in January, but obviously that did not happen.
There was another report to indicate a possible March release, but considering we’re halfway through April, obviously that did not pan out either. Now according to new reports, it has been noticed that the Gear Manager app for iOS has been leaked online in its .ipa format. However unlike Android, sideloading on iOS devices is not possible.
However if you do have a jailbroken device, then that’s a different story. However given that this is one of the ways that malware is spread, through careless sideloading from unverified sources, it is usually not recommended to sideload apps even on jailbroken devices. So if you’re not supposed to download the app, what’s the point?
We suppose the upside is that if the leaked app is the real deal (we haven’t tested it for ourselves), then it is an indication that the actual app itself could be close to being released in full, so we guess we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for it.
