Westeros is the fictional land in which Game of Thrones is set in. It seems like a rather unforgiving kind of place, what with cutthroat politics, bandits, black magic, and zombies roaming the land, but we’re sure that many fans are wondering what it would be like if such a place existed. The good news is that you can now experience it, sort of.
Recently the folks at HBO have teamed up with Facebook, Oculus, and Elastic (the designers of the show’s opening sequence) and have put together a 360-degree video of the show’s opener. If you were to watch it with a virtual reality headset like the Samsung Gear VR or Google Cardboard, it would feel like you’re actually standing above the map of Westeros.
As expect from a 360-degree video, users will be able to look around the map, pan it around, tilt it up and down. In fact it has also been noted that the video will contain several Easter Eggs, so you’ll want to keep an eye out for them if you can spot them. We have to admit that this is pretty cool, although being in the actual world itself would be much cooler.
The sixth season of Game of Thrones is expected to air in about 10 days come 24th of April, where hopefully we will finally learn for certainty what happened to Jon Snow.
