Google may have released Android 6.0 Marshmallow last year but it’s yet to arrive for a lot of devices, particularly those that are locked to carriers. Even as Google gears up to launch the next big Android update in the coming weeks, carriers and OEMs are still scrambling to get Marshmallow out the door as users get anxious. Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users on T-Mobile will appreciate that Magenta is finally pushing out Marshmallow for their handsets.
T-Mobile started carrier testing on this update for these devices a few weeks ago, usually, that’s a good indication for users since they know that it will only be a matter of weeks before the update being tested is finally released.
Magenta has updated the support pages for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to reflect that the handsets are now receiving update version G920TUVU3EPD1 and G925TUVU3EPD1 respectively.
It hasn’t put up a detailed changelog yet so there’s no information on any T-Mobile specific changes to the update, but it does bring everything you would expect from a Marshmallow update, including but not limited to improved permissions, Doze mode, Google Now on Tap and much more.
T-Mobile users will certainly hope that the carrier is quick about releasing the update for other Marshmallow-supported handsets on its network, otherwise, users will have to continue waiting for the latest version of Google’s mobile OS.
