When it comes to gaming on consoles, both the PS4 and Xbox One share certain titles, but due to the difference in hardware choices in either console, this means that what is achievable on one console might not necessarily be so on the other console. This has led to certain games offering up different resolutions and framerates depending on the console it is played on.
That being said while resolution does matter in gaming as it offers up sharper and crisper graphics, framerate is equally important, if not more so. After all what’s the use of having high quality textures when the game runs at 10fps, right? Now the good news is that if framerate is important to you, id Software’s upcoming title DOOM will have you covered.
According to a report from Digital Foundry, they have reported that id Software’s Tiago Sousa has confirmed to them that the game will utilize dynamic resolution scaling. Confused as to what this means? Basically this means that depending on how intense a particular scene is in the game, it will adjust its resolution to ensure that your framerate will be maintained at a smooth 60fps, or at least as close to it as possible.
Sousa goes on to note that the game uses 8x sampling for anti-aliasing, meaning that the transition from one resolution to another won’t be as obvious.
