This new use for its toughened touch surfaces is a development not to be sniffed at. Scott Forester, director, Gorilla Glass Innovations, shared, “It provides a wide range of color possibilities that you just can’t get from traditional screen printing processes. We spent a bit of time understanding inks and fluids, and how these adhere to glass. There’s a lot of intellectual property around the equipment and ink formulation. It’s a very different printing technology than what you see today.”
Corning is looking into the possibility of this new technology make an appearance on laptops and smartphones, especially when companies would like to add their multicolor logos to devices, and we await the first of such devices to hit the market sooner rather than later.
