Some of you guys have probably seen ads for Supercell games like Clash of Clans, a game that reportedly earned its developers a whopping 871 million Euros. However it seems that Supercell could be onto something here because it seems that their other title, Clash Royale, could be worth even more.
According to a report from Newzoo, it seems that the company has estimated that Clash Royale could potentially end up being a billion dollar franchise for the company. How did they arrive at that number? This is based on the app’s revenue which is said to have pulled $80 million in March, making it the highest grossing smartphone game in the world at that time.
Given that the top-ranked Clash Royale player spent $12,000 on in-app purchases, we can’t say we are too surprised that the game is doing well for itself. We’re also pretty sure that there are plenty of players spending just as much, if not more on the game. As pointed out by MCV, Clash Royale has yet to roll out a Chinese Android version, meaning that the localized Chinese market is one that they have yet to tap into.
Interestingly enough Clash Royale, despite it being of the “Clash” franchise, did not seem to have detracted from Clash of Clans whose revenue only fell by a tiny amount last month. For those wondering what the fuss is about, you can download the game via the iTunes App Store or Google Play.
