Apple Pay has been available to users in the United Kingdom since summer last year but one of the biggest banks in the country refrained from jumping onboard the bandwagon immediately. Barclays, the country’s second-biggest bank to be precise, has finally announced that it’s now supporting Apple Pay, enabling its customers to make payments on the go with Apple’s mobile payments service.
Barclaycard holders will now be able to add their credit and debit cards in the app and then pay as and when required using the iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch at around 400,000 compatible locations across the United Kingdom.
Barclays customers will certainly be glad that their bank has finally listened to their calls for Apple Pay support. Other banks were quick to support the mobile payments service while Barclays chose to stay on the sidelines for about a year before it finally decided to embrace Apple Pay.
Some of the country’s biggest banks already support Apple Pay, the list is made of financial giants like HSBC, NatWest, RBS, Nationwide, Lloyds and more. It’s about time that Barclays joined that list and now that it has, the bank’s customers can rest easy knowing that they are now able to pay with Apple Pay.
