We were seeing indications over the past week that Apple could soon launch refreshed models of the 12 inch MacBook that it announced last year, and that’s precisely what the company has done today. Apple has just announced refreshed MacBook models which come with faster processors, longer battery life and also a new rose gold color option.
The latest MacBook models are powered by Intel Core M processors available from 1.1GHz to 1.3GHz depending on the configuration. The company says that it has upgraded the RAM to 1866MHz modules and that integrated graphics have been improved to Intel’s more powerful 515 module which provides a 25 percent improvement in graphics performance.
Apple also claims that the battery life has been improved in the refreshed MacBook, that it’s now good for up to 10 hours of browsing and 11 hours of continuous movie playback. That’s an improvement of one hour over the previous models which arrive last year.
Customers can pick up the new MacBook from Apple’s online store today and from the company’s retail stores tomorrow. Prices start at $1,299 for the 1.1GHz model which also features 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD storage.
The 1.2GHz model with 8GB RAM and 512GB storage costs $1,599. There’s a 1.3GHz Core m7 processor option available as well but only for customers who opt for customized machines.
