Last we heard, which was back in February, it was revealed that Apple Music had about 11 million paid subscribers, so to make the leap of 2 million in the span of two months is pretty impressive. According to Cook, “We are very happy with the continued strong growth in revenue from Services, thanks to the incredible strength of the Apple ecosystem and our growing base of over one billion active devices.”
It is unclear as to how many subscribers the service has overall, but we suppose it doesn’t really matter since those on the Apple Music trial will have no choice but to become paid subscribers if they wish to keep using the service. We are also not sure how well Apple Music is doing in comparison to its competition such as Tidal.
However Spotify’s numbers from last month revealed that they are still in the lead with 30 million subscribers, and in 2015 it was reported that they had 20 million paid subscribers which we can only imagine has grown since then.
