Now if you were wondering if Apple was just neglecting the app and would push out an update to deal with this flaw, you might be disappointed to learn that will not be happening. According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, it seems that Apple has confirmed to the publication that they are indeed no longer supporting the app nor are they planning on updating it.
In fact it seems that Apple has actually posted a set of instructions on its website where they tell users how to go ahead and uninstall the app if they wish to keep their computers secure. The uninstallation process is pretty easy and straightforward, so if you have uninstalled programs on Windows before then this should be a no-brainer.
It is unclear as to why Apple has decided to stop supporting QuickTime for Windows so if you’d rather be safe than sorry, you should probably uninstall it. The security researchers have noted that to date there has not been any reports of hackers taking advantage of the security flaw, but we’re sure no one wants to be the first.
