According to the latest figures provided by Google, it shows that Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now sitting at 4.6% of all Android devices. Granted this isn’t quite the same as what iOS is seeing at the moment, but to double their figures in a month is still pretty good work. Android Lollipop has also seen a slight dip from 36.1% to 35.8%.
Android 4.4 KitKat has also dipped slightly from 34.3% down to 33.4%, and we have your usual suspects like Android 2.2 Froyo and 2.3.x Gingerbread, both of whom are still clinging on at 0.1% and 2.6% respectively, which we have to wonder if it will ever drop down to 0% in the near future, but for now it doesn’t look to be that way.
Android’s distribution figures can be a bit slow as there are many factors involved in pushing out an update, in which Google needs to give the code to manufacturers, who will then need to push it out themselves to their customers, or sometimes even pass it to carriers for approval before it is released to the masses, so Marshmallow’s relatively low figures really aren’t that surprising.
