Analyst Doesn’t See Major Apple Watch Design Change Before 2017

It’s about time that Apple unveil a new smartwatch and there have already been a lot of rumors about what we can expect from the second generation Apple Watch. The company didn’t announce a new wearable at its recent event which led many to believe that an announcement would be coming at WWDC 2016 in the summer. A well regarded Apple analyst believes that fans should keep their expectations low as Apple is not likely to make major design changes to Apple Watch before 2017.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities writes in a note to investors that while the company is going to launch an updated model of the Apple Watch this year, the bulk of the changes will be made under the hood and not so much to the actual design of the product.

This, despite recent rumors that Apple could introduce a substantially thinner version of the Apple Watch at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2016. Kuo’s prediction is contrary to that as he believes that design changes will come with a major upgrade for the Apple Watch next year.

If this is really the case then it would appear that Apple is going down the same road with the Apple Watch that it has stuck to for years with the iPhone. One year it’s a major upgrade and the other it’s just an incremental “s” update with changes being made to internal components.

Obviously, none of this has been denied or confirmed by Apple yet to take it with a grain of salt nonetheless. It’s not even known for sure right now if the company does plan on introducing a new version of the Apple Watch at WWDC 2016 this summer.
