About a week ago Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos confirmed that the company will soon release a new flagship Kindle e-reader. He didn’t provide any details of the new product in his tweet but a few days later we did see some leaked photos of the device, and some rumors also suggested what it might be capable of. Amazon has now officially launched the Kindle Oasis which happens to be the thinnest Kindle it has ever come out with.
Amazon says that it designed the Kindle Oasis to feel as light as paper, it’s 20 percent lighter and 30 percent thinner on average than any other Kindle. It has a tapered handgrip on the 0.13 inch thin display enabling users to read comfortable for hours.
Users can easily turn the page either using the touch display or via the dedicated page turn buttons that are located on the front of the handgrip. It doesn’t matter if the user decides to read with their right or left hand as the Kindle Oasis automatically rotates the page orientation to match.
Kindle Oasis has a high-resolution 300ppi display for “laser-quality text,” retaining the same 6 inch display size as the Kindle Voyage. It features 60 percent more LEDs than any other Kindle.
Amazon is selling the Kindle Oasis for $289.99 making it the most expensive e-reader that it has ever sold. It’s going to continue selling the Kindle Voyager for $199.99, the Kindle Paperwhite for $119.99 and the basic Kindle for $79.99.
Pre-orders can now be placed on Amazon.com, the Kindle Oasis will be released on April 27th.
