Apple recently unveiled the iPhone SE, its first new 4 inch iPhone in a couple of years, and analysts believe that the handset is going to do well with customers who didn’t want to move to iPhones with larger displays. It appears that other OEMs might follow the same path. A leak out of China suggests that Xiaomi could be working on its own iPhone SE competitor.

The leak from China suggests that the new Xiaomi handset is called the Xiaomi M2 SE and that it’s going to have a 4.3 inch display. Under the hood, the handset is rumored to feature a Snapdragon 820 processor with 3GB RAM as well as a 13 megapixel Sony IMX258 rear camera and a fingerprint sensor.

It’s also claimed that this new Xiaomi handset is going to look similar to the company’s Mi 5 flagship smartphone. Aside from that, it’s said to feature a 2350mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0, all at a competitive price tag of 1799 Yuan, about $280.

Given that it’s a leak from an unofficial source, it’s too soon to be certain about Xiaomi coming out with an iPhone SE competitor, even though it wouldn’t really be surprising if it does. The rumor mentions that Xiaomi is likely going to release the M2 SE in June this year.
