This is the age of smart products. When you have products like smart coffee makers and slow cookers it was only a matter of time before someone created a smart rice cooker and Xiaomi has done just that. A company best known for its competitively priced smartphones, Xiaomi today introduced the Mi Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker. It’s a $150 smart rice cooker which you can control using a smartphone.

This is the first product in Xiaomi’s Mi Ecosystem sub-brand which will now be used to market all smart appliances made by Xiaomi. The company has already created other smart products which include blood pressure monitors, water and air purifiers and more. It even has a Segway-like product of its own called the Ninebot.

Mi Rice Cooker can connect to Wi-Fi and sync with a smartphone using the app. Users can scan their pack of rice in the app to identify the type, brand and origin. The rice cooker can differentiate between 200 kinds of rice and knows more than 2,450 heating methods to ensure that the rice is always cooked to perfection.

To control the pressure inside the rice cooker uses a magnetic relief valve to control it to 1.2 times the atmospheric pressure. With an ideal boiling point of water at 105 degree Celsius being achieved using electromagnetic heating technology Xiaomi promises that this machine will provide more flavourful rice than any other rice cooker.

Xiaomi Mi Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker will be released in China on April 6th for around $150.
