For awhile now, Microsoft limited its Windows 10 Mobile Insider program to Lumia handsets, which we suppose makes sense as Microsoft would want to use it as a way to promote the Lumia lineup and give users a reason to get one. However more recently the company has opened its doors to other handsets, and the latest expansion sees four non-Lumia handsets join the list.
The four handsets include the MCJ Madosma Q501, BLU Win HD W510U, BLU Win HD LTE X150Q, and Alcatel Fierce XL. Now some of these brands you might not be able to find in the US, but some like BLU should not be an issue. In fact the company is known for creating affordable handsets that pack decent specs, so you should be able to pick one up for yourself if you’re on a budget.
Prior to this, Microsoft opened up its Windows 10 Mobile Insider program to other handset like the HTC One M8 for Windows, and the LG Lancet. Hopefully we’ll see more devices added to the list in the future moving forward. Unfortunately what we do not know is when exactly Windows 10 Mobile will be pushed out to handsets that are eligible for the update.
While the desktop version of Windows 10 has been rolled out for a while now, the mobile version has yet to find its way onto handsets that do not come with it preinstalled. However if Windows 10 Mobile is a must for you, then you might want to consider devices like the Lumia 950 or Lumia 950 XL.
