Every single company should have some sort of flagship device or product that they can call their own – as it is a way to showcase their technological prowess and if possible, to trumpet their superiority over their rivals. The smartphone industry is an extremely competitive one, and hence, we tend to see new models zipping us by fast and furious. Vivo is proud to announce the first smartphone in the world that comes with 6GB of RAM, in the form of the Vivo Xplay 5.
So much for packing in more megapixels in the camera or making the display as high resolution as possible, could having more RAM be the new trend these days? Still, having a huge amount of RAM is not the only thing going for the Xplay 5, as it also comes with a 5.43” Quad HD display that hails from the AMOLED school of thought, has curved sides like the Galaxy S7 edge, and relies on aluminum magnesium alloy for most of the chassis.
It will also tear up performance charts thanks to the quad-core Snapdragon 820 chipset underneath the hoo, in addition to a speedy UFS 2.0 storage. Vivo claims that a custom liquid cooling system ensures the chipset remains nice and cool without overheating. The starting price is approximately $565 for the 4GB RAM/128GB model, so the 6GB RAM model will most probably break the $600 mark.
