A recent tweet by Verizon executive Jeffrey Nelson has confirmed that the app will be available on both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge come 11th of March. Nelson wrote, “@SamsungSupport confirms Samsung Pay is undergoing testing & will be avail on schedule for our 3/11 launch of Galaxy S7 & Galaxy S7 edge”.
This seems to support one of the speculations that the app might only be available at the launch of the handset, which has been set for the 11th of March. The reason why many are confused right now is because just like the other carriers, Verizon has shipped out units of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge ahead of the 11th of March release, which is how some users noticed that Samsung Pay is missing from the phone.
Verizon spokesman Albert Aydin further confirmed to Android Central that the app will be available for the phone come 11th of March. “Samsung Pay is supported on the Verizon S7 models. It’s accurate that it’s not a preload but we have not blocked or prevented the app from working on the device. Once it’s available for download, customers can add or remove it whenever they’d like.”
