Nintendo announced last year that it was giving Universal Studios the rights to some of its properties to be featured in theme park rides though at that time it wasn’t made clear where we’d be seeing those rides. It has now been confirmed that those theme park rides will debut on Nintendo’s home turf. Universal Japan Park is going to get a $350 million Nintendo land which will feature iconic characters from the company in rides.
Nintendo attractions at the Universal Japan Park will be housed on the left side of the park’s main gate. Universal will pony up $350 million for this project which is reportedly going to be on the same scale as the Harry Potter-theme area which was opened back in 2014.
Developing and putting together all of these attractions is certainly going to take time but the parties involved are pushing to open this new attraction prior to the 2020 Olympics which Tokyo has the honor of hosting. They have just under four years available to them to make this happen.
More information about the attractions will be available once they have been created and perhaps we might even get to see photos of them before they’re set up at the Nintendo land in Universal Japan Park.
