So what is Stream First? Twitch wants developers to think about how streaming can be part of the game’s design and experience. This is as opposed to developers creating games then thinking about including support for streaming as an afterthought. Instead, Twitch wants developers to consider the streaming potential for games right at the start.
For example right now there are a trio of Stream First games in development: Superfight, Wastelanders, and Streamline. All these games are designed for streaming in which the broadcaster and their audience will be able to participate and play the game together, whether it be against each other or through co-op.
Some of the proposed changes Twitch has suggested includes making the game’s UI more legible for viewers, or creating community achievements which will encourage more engagement between streamers and their audiences. It’s an interesting idea but what do you guys think? Is participating in a Twitch stream something you might be interested in?
