The Division appears to be doing very well because not too long after its release day Ubisoft announced that its new franchise was breaking sales records. Ubisoft has now provided actual dollar figures which show that the game has continued to sell quite well after its launch day. During the first five days of its release, The Division raked in $330 million, that’s more than Destiny did, it previously held the record for the highest sales of a new franchise.
Activision released Destiny back in September 2014 and reported $325 million in sales after the game completed its first five days on the market. Ubisoft has announced that the estimated worldwide revenue for The Division in the same period of time exceeds $330 million.
It merits mentioning here that while Destiny was released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, The Division has only been released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and yet it has managed to break Destiny’s record for the highest sales of a new franchise.
“The Division taking the top spot in the industry for first week sales of a new franchise is a tremendous achievement,” said Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft. The publisher has also reported that The Division is now its best-selling game of all time.
