Back at the Consumer Electronics Show 2016 in January, Roku announced that it was working with TV manufacturers to come out with relatively inexpensive 4K TVs that were powered by its smart TV platform. The first models made in partnership with Insignia have already been announced earlier this month and now the models created with TCL are finally available for purchase.
TCL’s 55 inch and 65 inch S-series 4K Roku TVs are now available for purchase via Amazon. They’re relatively affordable when you consider what 4K TVs from high-end manufacturers usually go for. The 55 inch and 65 inch models are priced at $599 and $999 respectively.
The company has also confirmed pricing for four additional Roku models in its P130 series but didn’t say when they’ll be available for purchase. It’s likely that they’ll be available over the next couple of weeks. These models feature an enhanced remote which has a headphone jack for private listening.
Models in the P130 series come in 43 inch, 50 inch, 55 inch and 65 inch sizes for $499, $599, $699 and $1,099 respectively. It remains to be seen though if price alone is able to convince buyers to opt for TCL’s TV, and if the fact that they come with Roku’s operating system built in will entice customers to put money down for these TVs. We shall find out soon enough.
