Microsoft worked on its range of Surface Hub products by basing on the big-screen technology of Perceptive Pixel Inc., which happens to be a company that it picked up all the way back in 2012. With Surface Hubs, one will see it comprise of both software and hardware – from Microsoft, of course. They will arrive equipped with Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and OneNote) right out of the box, where users also have the option to hook up Universal Windows Apps to the screen from their personal devices should they desire to.
Surface Hubs will also come with Skype for Business software pre-installed, and this software supports voice-over-IP phone calls, videoconferencing, instant messaging and presence capabilities. Surface Hubs will no doubt feature touch screens with whiteboarding capability, letting you draw on OneNote displays with a stylus, and these whiteboard images are able to be saved in the form of OneNote files so that they can be manipulated on PCs later on.
Sales of the Surface Hub devices will be sold via Microsoft’s regional distributors. [Press Release]
