It looks like Snapchat has just shown off Chat 2.0, which will see a seamless merger of various elements, including the likes of video, audio, GIFs, and stickers. Those are certainly elements that would make for a very, very potent combination to let the current generation who are glued to their mobile devices to keep in touch with one another, that is for sure. Snapchat looks as though they are positioning themselves to be one of the most vivid and human manner of chatting virtually.
Chat 2.0 works this way – why not begin by sending a few chats, and when your friend appears, you can then begin to talk or go through a video conversation with but a single tap of the button. Apart from that, your friend can also choose to listen to you belting out a song, or check out other new stuff that you would like to show them. If no one is around, leave an audio note – that will do as well, or if you are feeling a little bit cute, then a sticker would also be able to get the message across loud and clear.
Apart from transitioning from one mode to another in a seamless manner above, the introduction of Auto-Advance Stories is also something useful, as it allows you to catch up with the rest of your mates without missing a beat. For instance, once you are done with a Story, the next one will begin automatically, all that you need to do is to swipe to skip ahead, and exit by pulling down. [Press Release]
