Just yesterday Verizon confirmed that Samsung Pay will be supported by both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, despite the fact that users who have already received their handsets were reporting that the feature was missing. Verizon claimed that the feature should be live on the 11th of March, which is when the phones are released, but it looks like they have since gone line a little earlier than expected.
According to various reports, it seems that Samsung Pay for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge on Verizon is now available for download, so hit up the Google Play Store if you’d like to get your hands on it. Prior to this, users had to sideload the app onto their phones if they wished to use the service, but we guess with its official release you won’t have to do that.
Verizon has been a bit back and forth about their support for Samsung Pay. Last August it was suggested that Verizon did not have plans to support the service, but a couple of months later, the carrier changed their minds. However with the app initially missing from Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge pre-orders, we suppose we can’t blame some users for thinking that Verizon has changed their mind.
However this is not the case, so if you do own either handset on Verizon’s network and would love to start using Samsung Pay, just download the app and you’ll be good to go!
