This has resulted in a smaller and more affordable device, but unfortunately it seems that the only way one can order the device is through Alexa, the voice assistant software found on the Echo or the Fire TV. However the good news is that thanks to a recent post by Phandroid, it seems that they have discovered a workaround.
Now this workaround isn’t illegal by any means, but like we said it is a workaround so if you don’t have the Ech or a Fire TV, this should do the trick. Users will first need to download the Amazon Shopping app on their Android device. You are then required to login and have an Amazon Prime membership. If you do not, then we guess this won’t work for you.
However if you do, tap the microphone icon at the top left hand corner and activate voice dictation and say, “add echo dot to shopping cart”. It might take you a few tries, but once you’ve found the Echo Dot, add it to your cart and you’ll be good to go. The Echo Dot is priced at $89.99 and will be released on the 31st of March. We expect Amazon will eventually open it up to everyone else, but if you’d rather not wait, this workaround might be worth checking out.
