Ah, after plenty of rumors as well as whispers of the Oppo R9 as well as the R9 Plus, here we are with official word concerning both handsets that have been announced over in China. These two smartphones will no doubt look really, really similar as they carry the same design language, but if you were to take them apart, what lies underneath the hood would be a very different matter altogether.
First of all, as its name suggests, the Oppo R9 would be the smaller device of the two, but this does not translate to it being small per se. The Oppo R9 will be a phablet that sports a 5.5” Full HD AMOLED display, with a 1.66mm bezel on the sides, measuring 151.8mm x 74.3mm x 6.6mm. Underneath the hood lies a Mediatek Helio P10 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory, that can be further expanded thanks to a microSD memory card slot.
Not only that, it comes with a 16MP front-facing camera that has an f/2.0 lens with a 78.1-degree field of view, while the back has a lower resolution 13MP sensor with a 5-element lens with f/2.2 aperture and 80.6-degree FoV.
As for the Oppo R9 Plus, this device will sport a larger 6” Full HD AMOLED display, with slightly wider side bezels that measure 1.76mm apiece. A Snapdragon 652 chipset will run proceedings from within, where it comes with 4GB of RAM as well, and 64GB of storage space with an option for a 128GB model if your budget permits. Both devices feature 4G LTE support, WiFi connectivity, and Bluetooth.
They are available for pre-orders now, with shipments set to kick off this 24th of March. [Product Page]
