Earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show 2016 Samsung made an aggressive comeback onto the PC laptop scene. The company launched two new Notebook 9 ultrabooks in 15 inch and 13 inch display sizes. The new notebooks promise speed and productivity in a very lightweight package. Samsung has now started selling these notebooks in the United States.
The 13.3 inch and 15 inch Samsung Notebook 9 ultrabooks weigh 1.85 lbs and 2.9 lbs respectively. These notebooks are fashioned out of magnesium even though it might look in the photo that the material of choice is metal. Samsung has done well to make the material it has picked look like metal as much as possible.
Samsung is offering the latest 6th generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors with these ultrabooks with full 1080p HD LCD displays and a 39Wh and 30Wh battery in the 15 inch and 13.3 inch model. The former has two USB 3.0 and one USB Type-C port whereas the latter only has two USB 3.0 ports and no USB Type-C port.
Prices for the Samsung Notebook 9 start at $1,000 and go higher depending on the configuration. It can go as high as $1,400 for the 15 inch model with a UHD display, Core i7 processor coupled with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M graphics card. The notebooks are available for purchase via Amazon, B&H and Samsung.
