The good news is that Microsoft has claimed that the update they made to the Windows Store FAQ page was done in error. In a statement Microsoft provided to the folks at Softpedia, it reads, “We continue to support Bitcoin for adding money to your Microsoft Account which can be used for purchasing content in the Windows and Xbox stores. We apologize for inaccurate information that was inadvertently posted to a Microsoft site, which is currently being corrected.”
What this means is that nothing has changed and that Microsoft will continue to accept Bitcoins as they did before, so we guess it’s business as usual, so for those with Bitcoin, you can go ahead and still use it in the Windows Store. Prior to this, there was speculation that due to the limited adoption of Bitcoin, and also what appears to be a decline in popularity that Microsoft had decided to drop their support for the cryptocurrency.
