Apple’s 4-inch iPhone SE Is Now Official

It’s odd that after Apple made such a fuss about making the switch to a larger screen with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus that they are now going back to the good old days of the iPhone 5/5s, and sure enough like the rumors have suggested, Apple has indeed launched the 4-inch iPhone SE at their event today.

However don’t let its small screen fool you because despite its diminutive size, the iPhone SE actually packs quite a punch, so if a 4.7-inch or 5.5-inch iPhone isn’t really your cup of tea, maybe this 4-inch model will do the trick. Of course certain concessions have to be made, meaning that this isn’t necessarily the iPhone 6s in a small form factor.

It is powered by an A9 SoC with an M9 co-processor so at least it shares the same processing power as the iPhone 6s. Apple is also boasting better battery life over the iPhone 5s. It will pack a 12MP rear-facing camera, Focus Pixels technology, True Tone flash, and a new image signal processor. It can even take Live Photos. There is also Touch ID which we guess is to be expected.

However like we said, there are some concessions to be made and if there is one feature missing from the iPhone SE it would be 3D Touch, which we’re guessing will be limited to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, and presumably future flagship iPhones. Apart from that, it will feature NFC technology so Apple Pay can also be used with the device.

In terms of price, it will be priced starting at $399 which according to Apple, makes it their most affordable iPhone to date. It will be available come March 24th.
