8-megapixel iSight camera with True Tone flash

If there is one design flaw of the last two iPhone generations, it would be its camera which sticks out like a sore thumb as it will not allow the phone to rest flat on the table. Granted with a case, your phone will be able to lie down flat, but many think that this should never have been an issue at the start.

The good news is that the iPhone 7 will change that. A new report from Mac Otakara (via MacRumors) has revealed that the upcoming handset will finally sport a flat camera design. In addition to the flush camera, the iPhone 7 is also rumored to feature stereo speakers. We have heard this rumor before where the removal of the headphone port will lead to stereo speakers.

The report goes on to claim that Apple will make the Lightning port thinner, which in turn is expected to reduce the phone’s overall thickness. According to their sources, this is expected to reduce its thickness by 0.1mm from the iPhone 6s which has a thickness of 7.1mm. We’re not sure if this applies to the iPhone 7 Plus, but the iPhone 6s Plus measures 7.3mm.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but the idea of Apple making their phones thinner than their predecessors isn’t new. To a certain extent, it is almost expected, but hopefully we will learn more in the coming months ahead of its launch which is expected for in the later part of the year.
