What you see above is a really, really unique piece of housing real estate, as though it was plucked right from some sort of fictional setting. Known as the House on the Cliff by GilBartolome Architects, this is one abode that lies in Granada, Spain. What makes the House on the Cliff so special? For starters, it has been built right into the cliff itself, providing 16 inches of insulation in the concrete roof that is said to pave the way”for a magnificent mix of insulation and thermal inertia.”
In other words, one will be able to see it maintain an interior temperature of 19.5°C throughout the entire year, all without the need for any kind of heating – or cooling, for that matter. The roof’s engineering is also very impressive to say the least, where it is made with a handcrafted formwork system that utilizes deformable metal mesh. The concrete is also local to lessen the carbon footprint, as it was made somewhere that lies less than 10 km away.
Plenty of attention was paid to craftsmanship and local labor where the House on the Cliff is concerned, and within, there are interior bespoke furniture that are made with fiberglass and polyester resin, designed via digital design software but manufactured by hand.
