It has been a while since a new Hitman game was released. The next addition to this franchise is currently in development and there’s a lot of excitement among fans. A disc-based version of the new Hitman game was supposed to be released later this year but Square Enix has just announced that the Hitman disc release has been delayed to early next year.

Square Enix had said a couple of months back that it was aiming for a late 2016 release for the disc-based version of Hitman. The full physical version of this episodic game is now expected to arrive in early 2017.

A reason has been provided for this delay. Square Enix says that this year is about providing “the best episodic experience” for Hitman. By releasing the disc version early next year, Square Enix is ensuring that it has enough time after the season ends to getting the best disc version of Hitman out to the public.

Hitman’s first episode is out tomorrow for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Episode 1 takes Agent 47 on a mission to Paris. Episode 2, based in Sapienza, arrives next month. Marrakesh is the destination for Episode 3 which will be released in May. Thailand, the United States and Japan are on Agent 47’s itinerary as well.

The game can be purchased online for the aforementioned platforms. The Intro Pack costs $15 and includes the Prologue and Paris, players will then have to pay $10 for each extra location when they become available. The full experience, which covers all future releases, costs $60.
