Note that the official numbers have yet to be released, but Business Korea has indicated that pre-orders for Samsung’s flagships are much lower compared to their predecessor, which is a bit odd given that Samsung’s new phones are better technically, and let’s not forget the fact that Samsung is offering free Gear VR headsets if you were to pre-order the phone.
However it is possible that maybe smartphone sales have peaked. Previously analysts have predicted that Samsung will not be alone in this, and that other companies such as Apple are expected to see declining iPhone sales as well. It is also possible that maybe the free Gear VR headset might not be tempting enough for Korean shoppers.
In any case this is just the South Korean market and might not necessarily be indicative for the rest of the world, so we guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the official numbers are, but in the meantime have you pre-ordered yourself the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge?
