Fullscreen, a popular media company whose creators have a combined audience of more than 600 million subscribers across YouTube and other networks, has announced today that its planned video-on-demand streaming service for mobile devices is going to be launched next month. The service will just be called Fullscreen and it’s going to be available on the web as well as through iOS and Android apps with support for Chromecast.
The new service will put the company in competition against the likes of Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, YouTube Red and others. Fullscreen’s biggest differentiating factor is its reach with the younger demographic, millennials and Generation Z, which accounts for a huge chunk of its audience.
Fullscreen is going to provide exclusive creator-driven content in its apps aside from a selection of TV shows and movies licensed from the big Hollywood studios. The aim is to provide more value for money to subscribers by offering shows and movies that are unique to Fullscreen, that’s really what services like Netflix and Amazon are doing, trying to differentiate themselves from the competition by investing heavily in original content.
Initially, there will be more than 800 hours of content available on the new service and 90 percent of it will be original content from creators. New subscribers will get a 30-day free trial. Fullscreen will go live on April 26th.
