There was no specific compensation figure shared in the filing, but James Kohm, the head of the FTC’s enforcement division, did mention that Volkswagen might actually end up forking out a sum to the tune of billions where consumer compensation is concerned, be it through fixing the vehicles to ensure that the right emissions figures are adhered to, or to simply purchase them back.
Volkswagen Group of America spokeswoman Jeannine Ginivan shared, “Volkswagen has received the complaint and continues to cooperate with all relevant U.S. regulators, including the Federal Trade Commission. Our most important priority is to find a solution to the diesel emissions matter and earn back the trust of our customers and dealers as we build a better company.” What do you think – should they pay up?
