There are many famous people on Instagram, and many of them use the platform for different purposes. Some use it just to document their daily lives and maybe to promote movies, TV shows, or music they are involved in. Some might be more opportunistic and use Instagram to help promote clothes, health supplements, restaurants, and etc.Then there are some who are there simply to spread the word, or in the case of Pope Francis, the word of God. As we reported earlier, it was confirmed that Pope Francis is expected to make his Instagram debut and sure enough he has. Now obviously his feed won’t be filled with selfies or shots of his food, and according to his Instagram profile it reads, “I want to walk with you along the way of God’s mercy and tenderness.”
If anything it sounds like Pope Francis wants to use the platform to help spread the word of God. This shouldn’t be surprising given his status, not to mention the previous report indicated that with Instagram’s CEO Kevin Systrom, both Systrom and Pope Francis agreed on the power of images and how they can unite people.
Reports have indicated that within the first four, he managed to amass 10,000 followers but at this time of writing, Pope Francis’ Instagram account has a whopping 1.4 million followers. For those who are interested in giving him a follow, you can find his official Instagram account here.
