If you regularly use Facebook Messenger for Android you’re in for a surprise today. The company has completely overhauled the app and the user interface is in line with Material Design elements that you’ll find on lots of Android apps now. It took some time for Facebook to get this update together for Messenger on Android, but now it’s finally done, and it’s rolling out today.
Head of Messenger at Facebook David Marcus confirmed through Facebook that the updated app is rolling out today. He points out that major redesign of an essential app that’s used by hundreds of millions of people around the world is “painstakenly hard,” which is why Facebook took so much time in putting this together.
Now that it’s done, Facebook hopes that its users on Android will enjoy the changes that it has made to Messenger for Android, changes that include a floating action button which can be used to easily start new chats with contacts.
This latest update for Facebook Messenger for Android appears to be focused on the user interface only since there’s no talk of new features being introduced with this update. Don’t expect much in the way of new features but at least, you’ll get a fresh new look in the app that many of you open multiple times a day.
