It guess that’s that – word from the horse’s mouth which confirms the non-existence of a native ad blocker on Microsoft Edge. It all began when Ed Bott’s eyes caught some snippets of information in a slide during a session that was titled “Microsoft Edge: What’s Next for Microsoft’s New Browser and Web Platform”, and in there, there were plans to “build ad blocking features into the browser.”
Microsoft has since called out that slide as misleading, citing that it was making a reference to the inclusion of extension support into Edge. To put it in layman’s terms, ad blocking will still make its way to Edge, although it will function in the very same manner as that of any other desktop browser. We’re glad that Microsoft has decided to step forward to clarify the matter and put it to rest, hopefully for good.
