Looking for a way to store files in the cloud and share it with your friends, family, or colleagues? There are plenty of options available, and Dropbox is one of them. Now if you wished that Dropbox was a bit more collaborative, a report from The Information has suggested that the company could be considering creating a chat workspace.
It is unclear as to how this chat workspace will work out. However the report claims that it won’t be as ambitious as to wanting to take on the likes of Slack and Yammer. The report goes on to add that this is something that Dropbox has been working on for the past 2 years, but has only recently gained more steam as work-based chat apps have gained in popularity.
With a chat app, it will no doubt help Dropbox gain more popularity amongst those who might prefer collaborating in real time. For example Google Drive lets users chat with each other via Hangouts, so while editing documents, they are able to chat at the same time. Unfortunately for now there is no word on when Dropbox will release the chat workspace, so we guess we’ll just have to keep an eye out for it. In the meantime Dropbox users, what do you guys make of the feature?
