According to Ridley, “I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it’,” but like we said, things are still in discussion as apparently the movie does not have a script just yet. So far all the Tomb Raider movies had Angelina Jolie play as Lara Croft, although that version of Lara Croft was based on the initial series of Tomb Raider games.
The Tomb Raider franchise has since been rebooted to feature a slightly younger, less experienced, and more gritty version of Lara Croft. Presumably the movie reboot has plans to take advantage of this “newer” Lara Croft, but since there isn’t even a script we guess it’s really anyone’s guess as to what the new Tomb Raider movies could be about.
As to whether or not Ridley will have time to film a new Tomb Raider movie given that she is currently busy with Star Wars: Episode 8, Ridley said, “Absolutely, I’m trying to fill up my calendar.” What do you guys think? Will Ridley make a good Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider reboot?
