Comic-Con To Launch A Streaming Service May 7

Comic-Con takes place several times a year in various parts of the world, although safe to say that the San Diego Comic-Con is probably the biggest and most high-profile. Unfortunately since comic book fans come from all over the world and not just the US, it means that not everyone is able to attend as tickets and accommodation could be more than what many are willing to pay for.

The good news is that if you can’t attend in person, the folks at Comic-Con have announced their plans to launch a streaming service called Comic-Con HQ. The idea is that for those who can’t attend, you guys will still be able to watch the action unfold live where you will get access to select SDCC panels, as well as original programming, scripted series, and unscripted news coverage. This service will be launched in partnership with Lionsgate.

Unsurprisingly this streaming service won’t be free. It is slated for a soft launch come May 7th where it will be free to use at first, but when it is formally launched in June, there will be a subscription fee attached to it, although the folks at Comic-Con have yet to officially announce how much it will cost.

This isn’t the first time companies have launched streaming services for those who can’t attend events. For example Blizzard has for the past few years sold virtual tickets to allow those who can’t attend BlizzCon in person to watch the show, as well a receive several in-game goodies. In any case if you don’t think you can attend Comic-Con this year, then Comic-Con HQ might be a service worth checking out.
