Casio is a brand that you could associate with watches. After all the company is known for their calculator watches from back in the day, not to mention they are also behind the G-Shock brand of rugged streetwear-style watches. However they could soon be associated with smartwatches as the company has announced that come March 25, the Casio Smart Outdoor Watch will finally be available for purchase.
If you’re wondering why this device sounds so familiar, it is because earlier this year during CES, Casio took the wraps off the wearable. The device is also known by its model number, the Casio WSD-F10 and unlike other smartwatches which tries to be sleek and dressy, the WSD-F10 will actually be aimed more at users who love the outdoors.
It sports a rugged design and will be water-resistant up to 50 meters and has also been designed according to military specifications as far as its durability is concerned. It also comes with a host of original Casio apps that target the outdoor user, like cycling, trekking, fishing, and so on. Of course it will come with the usual tracking tools, but clearly it looks like it was designed for the more outdoorsy user.
Other features include the ability to check their direction, altitude, atmospheric pressure, sunrise and sunset times, and etc. The watch was initially expected to be released in April but it looks like Casio has since moved it up to next Friday, so keep an eye out for it if this sounds like the smartwatch you’ve been looking for.
