You’d think that movie studios would first want to wait and see how a new movie does before deciding whether or not they want to invest in a sequel. However, it’s not uncommon to see studios give the go ahead for a sequel even before the first movie has come out. According to a report that’s exactly what New Regency is doing with the Assassin’s Creed movie, it has apparently greenlit the sequel already.
It’s not like the first Assassin’s Creed movie is just weeks away that New Regency feels there’s enough hype going around that suggests the movie is going to be a hit. The Assassin’s Creed movie isn’t going to hit the big screen until December this year.
There have been rumors in the past that more Assassin’s Creed movies might be made but this new report is quite particular in that it claims the current movie’s lead Michael Fassbender has decided to reprise his role in the sequel as well. That’s something we’ve not seen in previous reports.
The upcoming movie features a very strong cast in Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, and Brendan Gleeson with Justin Kurzel in the director’s chair. Ubisoft is also committed to the project so there’s a possibility that this movie might turn out to be a hit, thereby justifying the sequel after all.
