Android ‘N’ Developer Preview Released

There were rumors floating around that Google might release the developer preview of the next major Android update today and now it has. The next major Android update doesn’t have a name just yet, Google’s calling it Android “N” for now, and today it has released the developer preview which gives us all a glimpse of what the company is going to unveil at I/O 2016.

Google is going to release preview images of Android N for the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and the General Mobile 4G Android One handset.

Some new features in the Android N developer preview include split-screen multitasking, the ability to directly reply to notifications from any apps, improved notification handling, a better Doze mode that’s going to conserve more battery and support for Java 8 language features.

Android N is going to have many other features and improvements which you don’t see in the developer preview. Google will reveal more about Android N at I/O 2016. Aside from the name, many of you will want to know when it’s going to come out. Device makers will get Android N in final release form this summer which means OTAs should start arriving between June and September this year.
